2025 Window and Door Tax Credit in Middle Tennessee - EHI
If you replaced windows or exterior doors in 2025 and live in Middle Tennessee — including Franklin, Brentwood, Spring Hill, Thompson’s Station, or the greater Nashville area — you may qualify for the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (Section 25C).
What Is the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit?
The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) allows eligible homeowners to claim a federal tax credit for certain energy-efficient upgrades made to their primary residence.
For qualifying exterior windows and skylights installed in 2025, the credit generally allows:
• 30% of the product cost
• Up to $600 maximum per year for windows
• Subject to an overall annual limit for all eligible improvements
Please note: installation labor is not eligible. The credit applies to the cost of the qualifying product only.
Do my windows or doors qualify?
Qualification depends on the glass package and performance ratings selected at the time of purchase.
To meet federal requirements, windows and doors must satisfy specific energy performance criteria, including:
• U-Factor requirements
• Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) requirements (in certain climate zones)
Eligibility depends on the exact series and glass package installed. Not every configuration automatically qualifies, which is why it’s important to reference your specific order details.
What you may need for filing
When preparing your tax return, your CPA or tax advisor may request:
• A copy of your final paid invoice
• The product performance ratings (U-Factor and SHGC)
• The manufacturer’s certification statement confirming qualification
If you need documentation related to your 2025 installation, we’re happy to help provide what you need.
How to claim the credit
Homeowners typically claim this credit by filing IRS Form 5695 with their federal tax return.
Because individual tax situations vary, we strongly recommend consulting with your tax professional to:
• Confirm your eligibility
• Verify credit limits
• Ensure proper filing procedures
Efficiency Home Improvements does not provide tax advice, but we are glad to supply product documentation upon request.
